Lake Erie Belly Dance
(LEBD)
LEBD is Erie's professional, multi-genre bellydance troupe,
performing multiple styles of bellydance such as American
Tribal Style, Egyptian, and bellydance fusions, with direction
from Carla Fleming. Principle members share a passion
for dance, train weekly at Long's, and instruct classes
throughout the Erie area, traveling frequently to teach
area workshops. LEBD currently hosts classes at Long's
School of the Dance, The
Fleming School of the Arts, The Glenwood
Park YMCA, Chiropractic
Solutions, and Hamot
Health Connection. Lake Erie Bellydance represents
a 'sisterhood' of the dance, and is a supportive and driving
force for bellydance in the Erie area, performing regularly
at venues like the Presque
Isle Gallery & Celebrate
Erie, and hosting events such as Pittsburgh
Bellies in Erie, and The
2010 Dead of Winter Hafla. |

Carla Fleming
Carla Fleming comes from a music and arts-oriented family
background, and began her belly dance studies in 2005
with Erie instructor Jessica Stadtmueller. Soon after,
she began traveling to workshops to study with national
instructors, among them Zafira
Dance Co., Amy Sigil,
and Sharon Kihara.
She currently studies ballet, jazz, and hip-hop at Long's,
and has completed her ATS (American Tribal Style Belly
Dance) General Skills and Teacher Training Certifications
with Carolena Nericcio of FatChanceBellyDance,
San Francisco. Carla travels frequently with LEBD to teach
area workshops, and offers all levels of ATS classes at
The Fleming
School of the Arts in Lake City, of which she is the
founder, and at Long's
School of the Dance in Erie. She is the director of
Lake Erie Belly Dance, Erie's professional, multi-genre
belly dance troupe, performing multiple styles of belly
dance such as ATS, Egyptian, and bellydance fusions. Members
of LEBD rehearse at Long's
School of the Dance and perform regularly at major
events throughout the Erie and surrounding areas.

Melissa R.
Melissa has studied multiple belly dance styles
with Erie instructors Willow Hurlburt, Vikki Krugger,
Jessica Stadtmueller, and Carla Fleming, and has been
belly dancing for 8 years. She currently teaches classes
at Long's
and the Hamot
Health Connection, and travels with LEBD to teach
area workshops. She has performed, both as a soloist and
principle dancer of LEBD, at events such as Shimmy
for a Cure, Summer's
Hottest Hafla, and Relay
for Life. A pleasantly calming and powerful presence
to watch, Melissa effortlessly puts smile and shine into
her dance and instruction. She also shares her fabulous
seamstressing talents and exceptional good-nature with
Lake Erie Belly Dance, Erie's professional, multi-genre
belly dance troupe, performing multiple styles of belly
dance such as ATS, Egyptian, and bellydance fusions. Members

Alla
Alla Since her first bellydance class in 2008,
Alla has taken very quickly to the art, studying regularly
with Erie instructors Salem, Vikki Krugger, Jessica Stadtmueller,
and Carla Fleming. She is a certified Pilates instructor,
and currently teaches bellydance classes at Erie's Glenwood
YMCA and Chiropractic
Solutions, traveling frequently with LEBD to teach
area workshops. A natural entertainer, Alla's performances,
both as a soloist and principle dancer of LEBD, include
events such as Pittsburgh
Bellies in Erie, World Belly Dance Day, and Relay
for Life. She brings her unique creative energy and
panache for costuming to Lake Erie Belly Dance, Erie's
professional, multi-genre belly dance troupe, performing
multiple styles of belly dance such as ATS, Egyptian,
and bellydance fusions. Members of LEBD rehearse at Long's
School of the Dance with direction from Carla Fleming.

The LEBD Performing Student Troupe
The LEBD Performing Student Troupe (PST) is
made up of LEBD bellydance students who attend regular
classes & perform with LEBD at events, with direction
from Carla Fleming, Alla Povod, and Melissa R. Find

Class currently meets Wednesdays from 7-8 pm at Long's
School of the Dance, Selinger location.
