Carla C. Fleming
A born lover of arts and culture, Lake Erie Belly Dance (LEBD) and The Fleming School of the Arts founder/director, Carla C. Fleming, comes from a music and arts-oriented family background. She began private piano studies at age 5, and has been teaching piano since high school, holding her BA in Music from Binghamton University, NY. A childhood performer and cheerleading captain, Carla found bellydance to be a natural fit when she began studying with world-renowned instructors in 2005. She has completed her ATS (American Tribal Style Belly Dance) Skills and Teaching Certifications with Carolena Nericcio of FatChanceBellyDance, and travels frequently to headline area bellydance workshops and shows, both as a solo artist and with LEBD, founded in 2009 to become Erie's professional, multi-genre belly dance troupe. She studies ballet, jazz, and hip-hop with the talented instructors at Long's School of the Dance, and enjoys the energy that musicians and dancers create together, both in classes/lessons and on stage. Her passion, life, and work merge together as she teaches piano and bellydance full-time while directing The Fleming School’s programs and writing her original music
