AMERICAN TRIBAL STYLE (ATS) BELLYDANCE with Carla Fleming Wednesdays 7:30-8:30pm $40 / month, or drop in for $13/class. Ages 13 to adult.

Class/Instructor Description: ATS is a modern style of bellydance founded by Carolena Nericcio, FatChanceBellyDance director, of San Francisco. ATS has its roots in traditional and folkloric bellydance, and is an excellent style for beginners as well as students with experience in other styles of dance or bellydance. Here we will learn foundation movements of bellydance that can be transferred to all styles. ATS is improvisational in form. The dancers learn a basic vocabulary of movements that can be linked together with cues. There is usually a “lead" dancer, and “follow" dancers. By following the cues the leader gives, the group as a whole dances in unison, essentially speaking the same body language. Different formations of dancers are made throughout so there is always something new happening, making a great workout for both the mind and the body!
